Geaux 72 Degrees LLC keeps Opelousas comfortable through Louisiana's long cooling season. About 70 minutes west of Baton Rouge via I-10 and I-49, we reach local homes fast when the AC quits or the heat fails.
Every Opelousas job is handled by a certified technician who tests refrigerant charge, airflow, and electrical components — not just the obvious symptom — so the fix actually lasts. Serving the Capital Region since 2020.
The Opelousas Climate Challenge
Opelousas sits squarely in hot-humid Climate Zone 2A, where roughly 2,690 cooling degree days keep air conditioners running for the better part of the year. Opelousas is historic St. Landry Parish in Zone 2A, where older homes benefit from retrofit central and ductless cooling that fits their construction and beats the humidity.
High humidity is the hidden problem: it drives mold, sticky indoor air, and short-cycling equipment. Our Opelousas service is built around controlling both heat and moisture so your home feels the way the thermostat says it should.
Trusted by Opelousas Neighbors
We work throughout Opelousas, from downtown Opelousas, North Main area, Prudhomme City vicinity, and 70570 corridor to the streets near Interstate 49, US-190, Downtown Opelousas Historic District, and Le Vieux Village. That local knowledge helps us diagnose comfort problems faster than an out-of-town crew.
Opelousas has a wealth of older homes, and we retrofit efficient central and ductless systems into houses that were never designed for modern AC without sacrificing their character.
The HVAC Challenges We See in Opelousas Homes
Most of our Opelousas calls come from a mix of historic and mid-century Acadiana homes that run their cooling systems hard through long, humid summers. Older construction and high humidity mean we see aging systems, tired ductwork, and coils that struggle to keep up when the heat index climbs. You will find us in areas like downtown Opelousas, North Main area, Prudhomme City vicinity, and 70570 corridor, plus the streets near Interstate 49.
Proper sizing and moisture control keep these homes comfortable without sky-high runtimes. That is why we diagnose by measurement — static pressure, temperature split, refrigerant charge, and condensate drainage — instead of guessing from the thermostat, so the fix holds up through a St. Landry Parish summer.

For most Opelousas homes we recommend two visits a year: a cooling tune-up in spring before the heat sets in, and a heating check in fall. Given how many hours systems run in our climate, that seasonal cadence catches worn capacitors, low refrigerant, and clogged condensate lines before they become a breakdown. Ask us about a maintenance plan when we visit.
